On the list of sensational new timepieces at the SIHH was the Marine Regatta Chronograph, developed with the input of members of Artemis Racing, the company’s official partner for the 35th America’s Cup.
Victory during a yachting race comes down to the crucial minutes before the starting gun. Race contestants must perpetually jockey for position in order to cross the starting line with optimal positioning and timing. While all regatta watches count down the time before the race begins, only the Regatta Chronograph counts down to zero and then changes direction to start timing the race as well. The result of many months of development, and comprising 650 components, the new caliber UN-155 enables this highly impressive double function. The bi-directional second hand moves counterclockwise during the countdown to zero, then it automatically shifts direction, moving clockwise to begin measuring race time. With the Regatta Chronograph, Ulysse Nardin again reveals its commitment to innovation in the service of pure performance, and the continuing development of the marine instruments with which the company made its name.
